Valentine’s Day at the Homestead Wine Lounge

Homestead Wine Lounge at Vergenoegd Löw

On 14 February, the Homestead Wine Lounge in Vergenoegd Löw’s beautifully restored 1773 manor house is the perfect place for a tranquil, intimate experience of wine, food, and sustainable connection.

For R360, enjoy a luscious Valentine’s platter brimming with artisanal fare, including charcuterie by Richard Bosman, a variety of delectable cheeses by Dalewood, makataan (indigenous citrus melon) preserve, fresh seasonal vegetables and fruit, as well as toasted sourdough and farm butter. The experience also includes two glasses of the estate’s refreshing Chenin Blanc Cap Classique and a dark chocolate brownie per person.

No pre-booking required. Available from 11:00 to 16:00.

Vergenoegd Löw, located in the picturesque area known locally as “Stellenbosch-by-the-Sea” (just 5 km from False Bay), offers the perfect setting to indulge in a relaxing, romantic, and thought-provoking experience. Guests can also wander the farm’s gardens, adorned with bronze sculptures by celebrated artist Dylan Lewis, explore the maze and labyrinth, or take in stunning views that stretch deep into the winelands of Stellenbosch. Vergenoegd Löw offers more than just great food and wine. It’s a gorgeous, heritage-rich retreat.

Sustainability is central to Vergenoegd Löw’s operations, with practices deeply rooted in its long history. The farm’s unique approach to sustainable farming includes the use of Indian Runner ducks, Dexter cattle, and Dohne Merino sheep, which naturally keep weeds in the vineyards under control while fertilising the soils. These animals help maintain a balance between the land and its produce, making the farm an excellent example of sustainable farming. The farm also grows some of its own produce for the restaurants, adding another layer of sustainability to every visit. At Vergenoegd Löw, guests can enjoy more than just a day of indulgence. They can connect with a farm that honours its rich heritage and commitment to regenerative agriculture.
